You don't have to guess where your brand stands in AI. Check three things: whether AI mentions you at all, whether what it says about you is accurate, and where your competitors rank. Three questions, three checks — ten minutes is enough to get a baseline.

How to check: ask the right questions

Open Doubao, DeepSeek and Qwen — the Chinese engines — then ChatGPT and Gemini, the global ones. Ask each of them the three types of questions below.

Category queries

Ask about your industry plus your region. If you run a Bluetooth earphone factory in Shenzhen, ask: "Which factories in Shenzhen do Bluetooth earphone OEM work?" or "Which Bluetooth earphone manufacturers are reliable?"

Brand queries

Ask about your company name directly — "What is Shenzhen XX Technology Co., Ltd. like?" — and see how AI describes you and whether the facts are correct.

Comparison queries

Ask "Is X or Y better?" and watch whether AI recommends you, who it compares you with, and where you land in the order.

Ask each question two or three times — answers vary between runs — and see whether AI mentions you consistently.

How to read the results: three possible states

Once you have run the checks, your brand will typically fall into one of three states.

State 1: Present — the best outcome

AI mentions you and the facts are right. AI says, for instance, "Bluetooth earphone manufacturers in Shenzhen include A, B and C" — you are on that list, and your company name, address and main products are all correct. This is the best outcome: AI already knows you.

State 2: Absent — common, and most companies don't know it

You are never mentioned. You are outside AI's field of view — when a buyer asks, you don't even get compared. For many companies this is the real problem, and because they never check, they have no idea they are invisible to this group of buyers.

State 3: Not Recommended — the harder problem

AI mentions you, but the information is wrong, negative, or puts you behind a competitor. Maybe the address is wrong, the phone number is out of date, or AI ranks you below a rival and adds a negative remark. This is harder to fix than being absent: AI knows you — it just knows the wrong version of you.

What to do if you are Absent, or the facts are wrong

If you are Absent

It means your brand information is not in the pool AI retrieves from. The fix: put your company basics, products, services and FAQs in structured form on the places AI actually crawls — your own website, online encyclopedias such as Baidu Baike, trade media and content communities — so AI has somewhere to find you.

If the facts are wrong

More urgent. AI has memorised wrong information — a stale address, an old phone number. First align and correct your company details across every channel, then keep publishing accurate content so AI relearns who you are.

If you sit behind a competitor

Look at where the competitor is mentioned and which sources cite it, identify the gaps, then build exactly the content and sources you are missing.

One thing to keep in mind

A self-check is only the first step. It tells you where you are now. It does not tell you where to push, or how hard — and one or two manual checks won't either, because AI answers shift with model updates, competitor moves and changes in your own content. Seeing the trend takes ongoing monitoring.

If you would rather skip the manual three-questions-three-checks routine, Yihang Network can map your brand's position across Doubao, DeepSeek, Qwen and ChatGPT and tell you where to focus. See our GEO full-funnel marketing.
